GTI and 5G-ACIA signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the integration of 5G and vertical industries.

The partners intend to contribute to the building of the ecosystem of 5G for industry. The MoU aims to strengthen the cooperative relationship and to work on foster a closer channel between the Mobile Networks Operators community represented by GTI and the 5G for industry community represented by 5G-ACIA.

GTI aims to promote 5G commercialization and cross-industry innovation, and has been working to develop 5G for industries. It has a program called ENS (enterprise network solution) that addresses the vertical markets in order to push for common 5G solutions for industry 4.0.

The mission of 5G-ACIA is to ensure the best possible applicability of mobile radio especially the 5G technology for connected industries, in particular the manufacturing and process industries. 5G-ACIA will ensure that the interests and particular aspects of the industrial domain are adequately considered in 5G standardization and regulation. 5G-ACIA will further ensure that the ongoing 5G developments are understood by and transferred to the industrial domain. This includes possible integration concepts and migration paths, together with the evaluation of key technologies emerging from 5G standardization bodies.

Mr. Craig Ehrlich, Chairman of GTI, said “as an international industrial cooperation platform, GTI is committed to facilitating 5G development as well as convergence of 5G and verticals. The close collaboration with 5G ACIA will create advantages and new opportunities to break down the barriers between ICT and OT, thus accelerating the process of industry digitalization and the integration of artificial intelligence, while at the same time exploring new market opportunities via technology fusion.”

Dr. Afif Osseiran (Ericsson), 5G-ACIA General Vice Chair, 5G-ACIA General Vice Chair, carried on “the collaboration with GTI aims to strengthen the 5G-ACIA footprint on one hand in the Mobile Networks Operators community that is the nucleus in GTI, and on a second hand in China which is the major global hub for the manufacturing industry. Ultimately, in the hope of accelerating the 5G ecosystem for the Factories of the Future.”
